At last FC-6 in my box ...
Compiz is working properly after following these steps:
$compiz --replace gconf &
Then added this to xorg.conf
------------------------------------------
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite"
EndSection
------------------------------------------
then running
$gnome-window-decorator --replace &

I have problems on my box with the Desctop Effects. Your solution did not work on my box. I got an error after the comand 'gnome-window-decorator' - "This error was RenderBadPicture". And with the comand $compiz --replace gconf & i got " compiz: No RandR extension.
Do you got i hint?
